Housing and emergency services for low income people
Statement of Purpose
- We write to ask you to support our organization with a donation to our fundraising campaign. Housing and Emergency Services for low Income People assists individuals in our community and without donations from individuals and companies like yours, this would not be possible. Donations help sustain our organization and benefits the community we service.
- Housing and Emergency Services for low Income People was formed in 2019 as a non-profit housing counseling, emergency, and referral service agency. We focus on improving housing conditions and meeting the responsibilities of homeownership/tenancy in low to moderate income individuals and families receiving; Section 8, first time homebuyers, homeowners facing foreclosure, tenants living in substandard housing, and anyone facing homelessness or are homeless. To educate, provide referrals, house them, promote and sustain them with decent affordable housing.
- Since the Fair Housing Act has a dual purpose — the elimination of both housing discrimination and residentially segregated communities — affirmatively furthering fair housing is essentially fulfilling the dual purpose of the law. Housing and Emergency Services for Low Income People conducts housing workshops and homelessness seminars to help combat housing problems. We help save lives, prevent disease, increase quality of life, reduce poverty, and help mitigate climate change.
- I have written "Buy a Home with Your Section 8 Homeownership Voucher"; “Help for Homeowners Facing Foreclosure”; “Tenants Rights vs. Slumlords – Win in Housing Court”, “Free Money for Homebuyers’, and more. Available on Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. These and other books are used in conjunction with the counselling sessions and workshops and seminars we offer.
- The contents of these books are being provided for informational purposes. It is not intended to provide legal advice and should not substitute for the advice of an experienced real estate attorney. Purchase your books on this website.
- We help low to moderate income individuals and families solve their rental issues which has led to solving their homeownership problems. Most of these individuals receiving Section 8, Public Assistance, Social Security, etc. or no income at all, are all at risk of homelessness. We assist individuals from becoming homeless by pointing them in the right direction to help them locate and reside in decent, safe housing that does not endanger their life, health, or safety. Individuals who are homeless and living in either a homeless shelter or a hospital will be provided with the same referrals, and resources of information. We help clients locate help with their security deposit and their rent to secure decent affordable housing. We help clients apply for Section 8 and other housing subsidies including applying for subsidized apartments.
- Those on Section 8 are expected to purchase their home thereby having their Housing Choice Voucher converted to a Homeownership Voucher within 12 months. Those whom we do not house, we locate other suitable housing for them. If they wish to purchase their first home but need help meeting their monthly mortgage and other homeownership expenses, there is a program that will help. It is called the Section 8 Homeownership Voucher Program.
- HUD's Section 8 housing vouchers are normally used to subsidize the rental housing expenses of eligible recipients. However r, HUD offers a way for Section 8 voucher recipients to have their home ownership expenses subsidized when they qualify to purchase homes.
- Although this program is primarily designed for working families, elderly and disabled persons, current participants include single and two-parent families, grandparents, and single individuals.
- Section 8 recipients must submit to background credit check irrespective of the subsidy Section 8 will provide. And those living in homeless shelters are often denied housing. For this reason we help save lives, prevent disease, increase quality of life, reduce poverty, and help mitigate climate change. - Achieving the dream of homeownership early in life is vitally important. Just like obtaining a college degree to get a rewarding career, planning for homeownership and knowing what to expect will be just as vitally important.
- There is a significant link between appropriate housing, community involvement and health. According to the World Health Organization’s 2018 Housing and Health Guidelines, improved housing conditions can save lives, prevent disease, increase quality of life, reduce poverty, and help mitigate climate change.
